The visit of the Queen of Sheba to King Solomon
Edward John Poynter, 1890, oil on canvas. Art Gallery of NSW, purchased 1892.This has always been our favourite paining at the Art Gallery. It's so huge and imposing and full of colour and vibrancy and splendour and detail. We took the kids yesterday to see it for the first time, and I think they liked it too.
("When the queen of Sheba heard about the fame of Solomon and his relation to the name of the LORD, she cam to test him with hard questions." Read the full story here.)
