The nations come to King Street, Newtown ...

Have you ever wandered down King Street, Newton and counted just how many countries are represented in all the various shops in that long inner-city strip?

Yes, I took the photos. Spent some time on Saturday with J (M studying) and took them walking down King St.
No didn't use Picasa - I tried but it didn't quite turn out how I wanted so I did it manually in Publisher then saved as a jpeg.
Not feeling great - reason I'm up at this ridiculous hour is (not soccer this time) I woke up with sore throat and couldn't get back to sleep.
Have had a LemSip and will head back to bed soon. Nigh-night!

I love how it's not just international restaurants which you'd find in many suburbs, but all the others types of internationally themed shops as well - homewares, furniture, groceries. My favourite was Bollywood party hire! I've heard of people having Bollywood parties - how cool would that be!

I was also pretty proud of finding a shop advertising NZ cuisine - don't see that many places (if you don't count NZ Natural Ice Cream!).

I used to live on King st. It's very international - and extremely noisy!

Hi Ruth! Welcome.
Thanks for commenting on my blog. So far it has largely constituted a discussion between my brother and I!
I think I don't blog often enough, or on topics that stimulate discussion. I also haven't told many people about it, other than my brother. These factors may go some way to explaining the lack of commenting activity on here ...
But by all means join in - the more the merrier!
(and I'll try and work on the other factors I've noted above...)

we went into newtown on saturday night... saw m & j and then had some dinner with friends.

we had some stuff from a North Indian restaurant... not sure what makes it 'North' but it was nice...

but no where near as nice as the Indian restaurant at Kincumber... that's the best one around... and then get all the special awards etc...

What's this? Some comments on my blog?! How long have they been there??

Dave, that North Indian Diner in Newtown was where C and I went on one of first dates. Actually, it wasn't really technically a date, long story ... but we had a nice time together ...

Best Indian restaurant? Don't know what the Kincumber one is like, but the best one we've been to is Abhi's at Concord. Absolutely delicious. Makes North Indian Diner look like a fast food take away joint (oh, that's right, it is ...) Not overly cheap though, but you pay for what you get.
